Pass Plus worth it for an insurance discount? Some car insurance companies offer a discount for Pass Plus, but it's not guaranteed and the amount may vary. New drivers should consider the main benefit of Pass Plus to be becoming a safer, more confident driver, rather than a guaranteed reduction in insurance premiums.

Given that the Pass Plus discount is not guaranteed, new drivers should consider other options to lower premiums, such as:

• Telematics schemes ("Black Box" insurance) monitor your driving and reward safer driving with lower premiums.
• Add an experienced driver. Adding a low-risk experienced driver (e.g., a parent) as a named driver on your policy can reduce premiums. Please note that the main policyholder must be the person who drives the car most frequently; you are required to inform your insurance company of this.
